THE IDOLM@STER MASTERPIECE 04

Sorry for the wait! I work in education and, with the start of the school year, my free time as of late has not been abundant. It took me a while to get this post together in between a lot of other stuff I’m doing, but my NaNoWriMo challenge has helped me get this one up today!

In personal imas news, I started playing Mirishita more regularly again (the app and I have had an on-and-off relationship throughout the years) and I got the new Parade d'amour Tsumugi from the free pulls recently! She was not a huge fav of mine at first, but shes growing on me more lately. I especially love the new MV for the song so much, I’m happy to add her to my roster <3

Taiyou no Jealousy 

Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like Haruka quite a lot! I’d say shes one of my favorites in the entire Idolmaster series, even! However, I will stop myself before I type 100 paragraphs about what I like about Haruka the most lol

I love Haruka’s summertime-lovin’-soundin’ solo track, but it really does not feel too fitting to her as a character? Maybe if this were Hibiki’s solo song or something? Oh, wait Hibiki wasn’t invested yet (well, kinda). Either way, it feels a bit like they wanted to write a fun summer song and Haruka’s musical style didn’t have too much of a direction yet, so she was stuck with that theme for her solo song.

All that aside, Haruka’s soft voice at the beginning, then growing into her shouting “IMA DIVINGGG”, is so cute. Everything in the instrumentals conveys that beautiful-sunshiney-day feeling. All these plus the lyrics paint a very lovely picture of young love on the beach.

The drums are everything to me, and the piano that comes out at some parts is good, too. Plus, I really love these random back up vocals that show up in so many early imas songs, including the chorus women and the one random rapper guy voice. I love that this dude does like a whole rap breakdown that you can’t even hear lol. The “Kyun to”/”Chanto”/”Kitto”’s that are repeated at the end of each chorus are all so cute.

The ending is perfect, something that I feel is a running theme with more of Haruka’s solos in the future ^^

Agent Yoru o Yuku

Excuse me, I love this song so much that it’s going to be the first time in this series that I’ll be breaking out all-caps. I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS SONG SO MUCHHHHH WWWAAAAAHHHHH

When it comes to the vocals, I feel like this song shines when sung solo. So, thanks for the effort anyways, non-Makoto singers, but this is HER song. Ami/Mami’s versions are cute, though. Ryo has a really good version of this song later on that I like, too.

The lyrics are very cool. “The Agent Comes at Night” uses all sorts of allusions and double-meanings to paint the picture of a super spy taking on the mission of curing the singer’s loneliness and heart-ache. There are a few random English lines thrown in that also add to the international-spy-action-thriller feeling.

I’M SO GLAD THAT THIS SONG EXISTS ALL THE CRASHING AND CLANKING IS JUST SOOO GOOD. It does not sound like a typical idol song from the era at all. The bridge especially is where it doesn’t sound like regular music anymore, its just all the metal banging sounds on top of a droning whoosh sound. Just listening to the instrumentals, it sounds like a particularly epic RPG final boss fight track, especially with the constant low rumble of the electric guitar and the dramatic brass horns.

I REALLY REALLY REALLLLLY LIKE the freaky ass bass and all the other electric sounds throughout this song. The strong musical hits that go along with the strong delivery of the last line of each chorus is also really good. All the dramatic horns are awesome and I love any part where they just escalate higher and higher… (dreamy sigh)

Years before I was much aware of what The Idolmaster was, I first heard this song through the classic NicoNico Kumikyoku medley, a fanmade music mix of a bunch of songs that were popular (for either being really good or really funny) on NicoNico in 2009. As a kid, I found this video that brought it from NicoNico to Youtube probably just a few years after its upload, probably when I was around 10 or 11.

THE DANCE IS ALSO SO GOOD…………. I JUST LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH OKAY? Okay. Caps-lock is over for today lol

Ohayou!! Asagohan

Yayoi’s singing is soooo baby…And Azusa and Yukiho both do a lovely job complementing her. Azusa’s voice is sweet sounding and Yukiho’s gentle voice sounds as if she is being quiet since you are still waking up. There is also that random deep background voice singing again during a few of the lines.

Idols are a powerful motivator for self care, Azusa singing “Don't forget to eat today's breakfast” at the top of the first verse must’ve gotten hundreds if not thousands of people to be motivated to get out of bed and actually eat breakfast lol.

The song is very gentle, but still with a beat fast enough to feel energizing, perfect for actually waking up in to morning to! The song starting with the sounds of birds chirping is a genius move to set the tone immediately. The soft synth drums add a nice pulse of energy to the song. The fiddle makes it sound a bit country/”hoakie”, but in a cute Yayoi-ish way. I like that it sounds like 2 fiddlers are playing alongside together at the end.
